A new legend of textile.

Like everyone knows I am a big textile fan,  was very excited to visit Matthew Williamson‘s showroom to see the newest season’s design. I admit I enjoyed too much and almost forgot the time. They are beyond beautiful. Matthew always knows how to create his original textile design base on the big cultural influences. The inspiration of the new season is Russian Architectures. Every tiny details of the buildings could become his important inspirations, sometimes sculpture, sometimes patterns on the floor, sometimes the roof, the carpet…Russian architectures style influenced by western and eastern both, colorful, smooth, glamourous, actually whatever their art culture or their building style, everything goes extreme. That is also the why it becomes one of designer’s favorite.
If I say amazingly embroidered works and plenty of different materials combinations of these costumes shows Matthew studio’s exquisite craft skill and the respects for the russian traditional art. The print design shows studios so much creation and imagination. I love how they use the ground texture as print, not only present traditional russian colorful symmetrical patterns, but he also put the real dust texture on it, which looks like you put on the exact floor pattern on your body, that is fun.  The floral pattern also not just simple floral, they include other texture inside of the flowers. Snake pattern mixed lace pattern looks romantic and attractive at the same time. Romantic and brilliant style for the next winter, seriously I couldn’t wait now already.

It’s very interesting to see that so many people still get inspired by Eastern European/Byzanthine/Ancient Greek and Roman art. I am happy that the ancient craftmanship still survived in some way. Thank you for sharing!
